Malibu Triathalon

My good buddy Adam ran in the Malibu Triathalon today with about 3,000 other people including a bunch of athletic celebrites. He’s been training for months and it was great to see him power through it. Here are a few cool shots, enjoy!

Same Sex in the City at the Parker Hotel

I had the priviledge of being asked to photograph the “Same Sex in the City” wedding show put on by gbk weddings , Rrivre Works Inc and at the very unique Parker Meridian Hotel in Palm Springs. It was an interesting experience being in Palm Springs during the summer but it is a refreshing change of pace from LA. It really was a fun show with many amazing vendors. Check out the fun shots and let me know what you think!

In defense of "uncle bobs"

Hey everyone,

I just thought i’d write this up. I see a lot of photographers really worried about guests interfering with shooting their weddings and I thought I’d share my philosophy.

It’s true, no one likes it when someone gets in your shot. I just want to lay down some context so we can happily coexist and hopefully alleviate any tension.

1) Everyone likes to take pictures at a wedding. I mean, hey we do it for a living…we must like it. Heck, guests don’t even get paid for it but they are running around snapping like crazy. I honesty  appreciate anyone who is passionate about taking photographs.

2) Turn lemons into lemonade. Instead of waiting, stopping or take a picture of THEM taking a picture of their friends. They are invited guests and are happy to see their friends tying the knot. Now, you have captured the memory of a guest/family/friend spending their time taking a picture of their friends and are just a bit richer for it (photographically of course).

3) Everyone wants a picture of the couple w/ family ect. I learned this from  Todd Johnson. During the formals, you set everyone up all nice a perty and then let the friends, family and guests take their shots first. After they are done,  you have as much time as you need to take yours  (bonus: everyone will be looking at your camera). Everyone wins!

Now there is always the possibility of a guest interfering. Now we have to talk about responsibility, you are the hired photographer and you know if they are actually getting in the way of important stuff or just wandering around obliviously clicking at everything with or without a pulse. It’s your job to be polite and ask them to step aside.

We are at the wedding to add to the experience and help everyone have a great time while getting some fun shots. It’s life, gotta give a little and you’ll get some back!

just my 2 cents.

p.s. here is a fun shot.

good friends

My buddy Pierre came into town this week. He’s an editor at an animation company called radical axis and was down here to work on a hush hush trailer. He and I went to highschool together and it’s interesting how some people although you rarely talk can still get along so well. It was great seeing him in his zizou cap and funky yellow sunglasses (which he promptly gave to nicole because she thought they were cool)
